Morning Me? Never Thought I’d See the Day!

I was never a morning person. Getting up at 5 or 6 AM? Absolutely not my cup of tea. Whenever I looked for a new job, two things topped my priority list—minimal travel distance and access to good food. Because let’s be real, nothing is worse than sacrificing sleep just to cook at an ungodly hour.

I used to watch my roommates waking up at 6 AM, diligently preparing their tiffins, and heading out like responsible adults. And me? Just the thought of that routine made me uneasy. I cherished my sleep like a priceless luxury. If my login time was 10 AM, I would set my alarm for 9 AM, get ready in a rush, and head out. No elaborate breakfast, no packed lunch—just grab some sprouts or a salad, and I was good to go.

Now, here’s the catch—I’m not a hardcore night owl either. I can’t stay up till 4 or 5 AM, but post-midnight? That’s my golden hour. My brain functions best after 8 PM. Silence fuels my creativity, and I need my alone time to deep dive into my thoughts. Waking up at 9 or 10 felt like a privilege, and if given a choice, I wouldn’t mind sleeping in till 11.

But then, 2024 happened. And let me tell you, this year has been an unexpected game-changer. It pulled me out of my cozy bubble and reshaped me in ways I never imagined.

The distance to my workplace increased, forcing me to leave home an hour earlier. Add to that the horror of preparing my own tiffin. The girl who once snoozed her alarm till 9 now reaches the office by 9. And the unthinkable—I wake up at 7 AM. (Yes, yes, I know 7 is still late for some of you early risers, but for me, this is a monumental shift. No judgment, please!)

And here’s the real kicker: I’ve become so accustomed to this routine that even on weekends, I find myself waking up at 7:30 AM—completely unprovoked. Who even am I?

But the changes don’t stop there. I enjoy cooking and can whip up meals for a family of 5-6, but doing it in the morning was never my thing. Now? Somehow, I've adapted—and weirdly enough, I finally understand the office girlie meal prep struggle. Who would've thought?

Sure, these may seem like small changes to some, but to me, they are monumental milestones. And if I don’t appreciate my own progress, who will?

Growth isn’t always about major transformations; sometimes, it’s about the small, unexpected changes that shape us in ways we never anticipated.

So here’s to celebrating the little victories. Because in the end, they’re what truly redefine us.
